The Asbury Park Art Factory is artist Frankie Mainieri. Frankie lives in Ocean, NJ where he also maintains his art studio. In addition to making paintings and linocuts for over 40 years Frankie has had a very curious history of jobs: HS art teacher,“ghost” colorist for Archie Comics, decorative painter at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, in-house portrait painter for an event planner, short order cook, and night-shift UPS worker just to name a few. Currently he works for himself as a full-time artist. Frankie has shown his paintings in galleries in Philadelphia, NY, Asbury Park, and Jersey City. Frankie’s love and fascination with Asbury Park began in the 1960s when he was 3; his parents would take him and his sister Michele there frequently to enjoy the kiddie rides and games. He grew up in the adjoining town of Wanamassa only minutes away from AP by bicycle. His favorite place was the Palace which was the original home of the now ubiquitous Tillie. The Palace is now sadly a parking lot. Throughout it’s transformative history Frankie has continued to enjoy the storied city by the sea.Today he visits mostly to enjoy its art, food, and music. Some of favorite acts he has seen there include Lou Reed, The Meat Puppets, Cake, the Dandy Warhols, and Bob Dylan.
